Seal (Lead, 27 mm, 21.45 g, 12 h). +ΘЄO/TOKЄ BO/ЄΘI ΠΛAT/ONI AΠO Є[Π]/APXⲰN Δ[O]/MЄCTIK, in six lines. Rev. THC B[AC]/IΛIKHC T[P]/AΠЄZHC S / [KOVPAT?]ⲰP / [V]IⲰ ΔMH/TPI૪+ in six lines. Unpublished in the standard references. Somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.

This remarkable seal belongs to a Byzantine court official named Plato. As domestikos tes trapezes, he was the deputy of the epi tes trapezes, a eunuch who was in charge of the imperial "table" and thus organizing the banquets at the court. If our reconstruction of the last part of the legend is correct, Plato's patronym is mentioned at the end, along with his position as a kourator (manager of a domain)
